* Sigh *

I joined Dreamwidth to follow a talented writer and then was pointed toward and tempted into a writing challenge with Hurt/Comfort Bingo.

Six months, I said. You have six months!

More sighs.

I originally planned a Cross using one vertical and one horizontal line to complete the challenge. My downfall, I suppose, was the first story that jumped into my head directed solely by the prompts: dub-con. I really had no set plotlines, simply a concept. I figured it would be a short story or maybe a novella: 3-5 chapters tops. Unfortunately, the story took over and demanded released.

Sighs between the sighs.

I had one story already in progress (never posted) that fit a fill so that popped onto the board. Another story that I had been thinking about matched a square and it joined the first—on the horizontal line. So why oh why was the vertical line the one that beckoned?

That dub-con story took over—dubious consent indeed. I consented to its sway and found myself needing to generate ideas that lined up with the now lengthy adventure that found more characters, more subplots, more action than ever intended.

Sighs mingled with shuttered breaths now.

A week to go! Seven days! How did that happen?!? With one story posted, I wrote 3 of the 5 stories over a period of about 5 days. Speed writing. It was quite apparent that only the vertical line would survive (although I do have a pretty good story on that horizontal line I do want to write).

The deadline was staring at me. And the dub-con wanted more.

Sighs, shuttered breaths, and a tiny moan.

It couldn't be done. I couldn't satisfy its demands and complete the goal.
Damn, I hate how the ending was slapped on and the Post button hit.
Serves you right, dub-con.

All that being said, I loved the challenge of the stories, and I WILL return to give that final story the more in-depth ending in needs.

Ok, I am trying to figure stuff out.
First time posting and first time participating in a writing exchange thingy.

I played with HTML years ago when doing stuff for my son's baseball team, but as with most foreign languages, if you don't keep it up, it disappears into the dusty box files somewhere in the lost room of your brain. Unfortunately, I am getting more and more lost rooms as this whole aging thing progresses.

Back on topic: Here is my Bingo Card for The Hurt/Comfort Bingo Community.

Alan Virdon, Galen & Pete Burke — heroes of POTA TV
I plan to stick with my boys: Galen, Pete & Alan of the Planet of the Apes TV series. As of this moment, I am planning on column 4 and have story ideas for all but "locked in a box". I flash to my friend, Gryph or Gryph Stories' story entitled "Broken" each time I consider where to go with that prompt and know I can't better that — that is an incredible story — so I have to devise something else.
Now "forced to hurt someone" remains a bit vague in my head; however, the other 3 have clear plotlines.

I have two WIPs that need to be completed before I can begin. One is based in a beautifully designed AU by the aforementioned Gryph. The second is dropped in the extraordinary reboot of the POTA TV series by the talented Athaia

Actually, either of them COULD be plugged into the bingo card under a couple of different fills although not in the column I am looking at. But since I was already writing those, it almost feels like cheating. But then, I am blatantly lifting AUs of my friends to write stories so I'm already cheating a bit.

Eventually, I will return to my own AU and resume the hurt and angst going on over there.
I will conclude by saying that I am grateful that I discovered the POTA series world and the wonderful folks associated with that fandom, because it certainly inflamed my dimmed desire to write.

PS - working through the Preview to get the damn HTML to work properly brought back memories—not necessarily pleasant ones—but the feeling of success when it FINALLY does right is worth savoring for a moment. Now, it's time to feed the hungry mouths below the accusatory eyes that have gathered and are staring at me.

PSS - It took me several tries of reduce, reduce, reduce to settle on about 600px to look about right on the picture insert. I think I am over-stressing my new learning faculties today!
